| Team Gym is the
MLC Gymnastics Club Display squad. The troupe combines gymnastics,
dance, acrobatics and sports aerobics to create innovative displays
that are performed at various sporting events. Team Gym has 10-15
members ranging from 15 to 30 years of age. The troupe is a combination
of former gymnasts, coaches and gymnasts who work together in
a display class to perform at outside venues and promote gymnastics
to the community.
Team Gym is managed and choreographed by Jackie
Allen. Jackie is the 2002 Australian Fitness Champion and has
an extensive background in dance, gymnastics and cheerleading.
While representing Australia in Las Vegas at the World Fitness
Titles in 1998, Jackie spent time working with the L.A. Lakers
(NBA) cheerleaders.
The troupe has received an overwhelming response
to their performances. Team Gym has performed for the following
high profile organisations:
- Australian Football League (AFL)
- National Basketball League (NBL)
- Gymnastics Australia - World Gymnastics Trials
- Australia vs New Zealand Netball Test Match (2004)
The troupe competed at the 2004 National Team Gym Chamoionships
held in Sydney. The competition involved 3 different events; Floor,
Tumbling & Vaulting/Mini tramp. The MLC Team Gym troupe placed
1st on all 3 events and were awarded the National Team Gym Champions
for 2004.
