MLC Gymnastics Club gymnast selected into the 12 member Olympic Squad.

Lynn Silcock, an MLC Senior International gymnast and a Kew High School Year 11 student has earnt a place on the Olympic Squad after ranking 7th All Around (AA) at the National Championships last week in Sydney.

Lynn renewed her National Squad placement and is also a National SEP Squad Member who will receive some National funding to assist with training costs.
Lynn hit eight out of eight routines during the week at Nationals and was ranked in the top 8 on 2 events in the apparatus finals. She also won a Gold team medal as a member of the Victorian team in the team event.

Lynn is the first ever gymnast to be placed on the Olympic Squad who is not from a State / National Institute Program. Currently training in Canberra at the AIS with the National team, Lynn will return home for 3 weeks of training at the end of the week. The 12 Squad members return to AIS in June for a final 2 week training Camp before the final 7 team members are announced on July 5th (6 team members and one reserve).

Lynn’s team-mate, Ashlee Woodward, was petitioned onto the Olympic Shadow team, but was unable to compete due to an injury suffered 2 weeks earlier. She narrowly missed selection for the Squad.
