| The Victorian Interschool Gymnastics
competition is held once a year involving other schools in the Melbourne
area. It is held in Term 3 and is open to MLC students from Year
7 to 12. The gymnasts may be current members of the MLC Gymnastics
Club Program, however 50% of the College's representatives are
either former gymnasts, or students who come along for a term
to learn routines and skills and then compete for the School.
Training for the College team is offered to
MLC students over one and a half terms leading up to the competition.
Generally, it is held one morning before school and one lunchtime.
Information is distributed through college newsletters and student
dailies.
Senior Gymnastics staff at the Club conducts
the training sessions and take the students to the competitions.
We encourage all students to join the team, even if they have
limited gymnastics experience. The performance of the MLC students
at the Interschool Competition is outstanding; taking out not
only the top divisions, but many of the larger, lower level divisions
as well. This is due to the strength of the Gymnastics Club program
and the interest it holds within the College.
The MLC School Gymnastics Captains assist the
coaching staff with training gymnasts and at the competition.
Students who participate are eligible for School Colours.
The 2008 Victorian Interschool Gymnastics Competition
