During the school holidays Lidia McLean (IDP 6), Jasmine Slade (IDP 5), Emma Curry (IDP 8), Ebony Winder (IDP 6) and McKenna Linnen (IDP 5) represented MLC at the International Development Program (IDP) Clinic in Perth.
The clinic was lead by National Junior Development Co-ordinator Jo Richards with experienced coaches – National Coach Peggy Liddick, WAIS coaches Nikolai Lapchine and Dimitri Kalinen and National Choreographer Stacey Umeh leading the technical direction on each apparatus.
Selection for the camp was based on individual National IDEAL Skills testing scores. The clinic was divided into two groups: Clinic 1 was the 11-13 year olds and Clinic 2 was the 9-11 year age group. Both clinics trained 5 full training sessions over the 3 days – so it was a busy schedule.
During the clinic all girls participated in the physical testing and Emma Curry won the honour of being the best physically prepared gymnasts for her age group and the kip cast handstand challenge. Congratulations to all gymnasts at the camp - well done !
A very big thanks to MLC coaches Jeb and Regan for attending the camp with the athletes, as well as Kath Saward for looking after the girls as well !
