| The Recreational
program is based on National Gymsports Programs and Gym Star programs.
Gymnasts pass levels based on national level program requirements.
This allows the gymnasts to develop their skills in an encouraging,
non-competitive environment. For the higher-level gymnasts in
the recreational program, there are Club and Gym Star competitions
if the gymnasts wish to participate. The gymnasts start from one
hour per week and develop to a maximum of four hours per week.
The recreational program also has a Team Gym Display Squad that
performs throughout the year.
The Competitive Program is based on the National
Levels Program (National Level 1-10) and the International
Stream Program. Gymnasts are selected into this Program based
on ability and the desire to train longer hours. The gymnasts
commence at two days per week and may train up to six days per
week in the top-level squads. The MLC gymnasts are strong members
of the Victorian team at National Level 7 to 10 and within the
International Stream.
Sport Aerobics commenced as a formal program
in 2001. MLC offers introductory, intermediate & advance classes.
The gymnasts train once or twice a week and participate in both
School and Club competitions.
Kinder Gym commenced as a formal program in 2001. MLC offers classes
to boys and girls aged 2 to 5 years. Classes are run for 45mins
once a week and assist in the development of the whole child by
providing a structured, multi-sensory environment where the child
may creatively explore and practice skills safely. Classes also
help to develop self-confidence and self-esteem.
The Dance Program became a formal program under
the Gymnastics Club banner at the beginning of 2004. The dance
program offers Jazz Ballet/Funk & Classical ballet and is
offered to students from 5 years of age. Classes run for 1 hour
per week and cater for beginner, intermediate and advance standards.
